Election 2017 Community Email

Wimbledon is the best constituency in the country and it has been a privilege to serve as your MP for the last 12 years. During that time, I have worked hard to make your voice heard in Westminster and stand up for residents on important local issues, including on:

Bank Holiday Weekend District Line Closure

On Saturday 27, Sunday 28 and Bank Holiday Monday 29 May, there will be no District line service between Parsons Green and Wimbledon. Replacement buses will operate from Fulham Broadway.

Manchester Attack

I attended the very moving minute silence today at the Civic Centre, my thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected by the horrific Manchester attack. Thank you to emergency services for their brave work.

St Helier Hospital is Safe

Today I have been out in Morden, talking to residents and delivering a letter about St Helier Hospital, which is a vital part of our community, providing critical healthcare to thousands of residents.

Woodman Pub Update

Last week along with Cllr Oonagh Moulton and Cllr Linda Taylor I met Goldcrest, who have bought the Woodman Pub site.

We made the point that the initial lack of information about the purchase and their intentions was unhelpful, and led to rumours surrounding the fate of the pub.

Summerborn and Premature Children

Over the last two years in Parliament I have been campaigning for summerborn and premature children to be able to start Reception class aged 5, if their parents think it is appropriate. Some local authorities give parents this right already.

Apply for a Postal Vote to make sure you can have your say on 8th June

Last month, the Prime Minister announced a snap General Election for Thursday 8 June. Given the short notice, people may find it difficult to vote on the day because of other commitments. Therefore, I wanted to take this opportunity to email you about how to vote by post.
