Westminster Hall Debate: Post Brexit Customs

Yesterday I led a debate on post-Brexit customs arrangements. We must ensure we protect jobs and businesses, avoid a hard border in Ireland, and reflect the realities at our ports.

Ride London - Sunday 29th July

On Sunday 29th July the Ride London Cycle event will be passing through Wimbledon again.

This will mean large parts of Wimbledon Hill Road, Worple Road, Coombe Lane and Wimbledon Village will be effectively closed from 7am-7pm.

Heathrow Airport Expansion

The House of Commons has been asked to approve the expansion of Heathrow Airport in principle.

European Union (Withdrawal) Bill - Meaningful Votes

For the past two weeks I have been working closely with Dominic Grieve QC MP and other colleagues to try to reach an agreement with the Government to secure a meaningful vote in the event of no deal.

Crossrail 2 Update

I spoke this morning with the Chief Executive of Crossrail 2.

At present, Crossrail 2 are undertaking an “Independent Affordability Review" to examine ways of making the scheme more affordable.

I am pleased that the Government’s concessions on refugee rights, environmental standards were approved today in the House of Commons. This is a result of a significant amount of work behind the scenes.

Today was the first of two days the House of Commons will consider the House of Lords’ amendments to the EU (Withdrawal) Bill.

It has been a frantic day and I have had countless conversations with colleagues and the Government all day.

Motspur Park Level Crossings - Crossrail 2
