Woodman Pub Update

Last week along with Cllr Oonagh Moulton and Cllr Linda Taylor I met Goldcrest, who have bought the Woodman Pub site.

We made the point that the initial lack of information about the purchase and their intentions was unhelpful, and led to rumours surrounding the fate of the pub.

Over the last two years in Parliament I have been campaigning for summerborn and premature children to be able to start Reception class aged 5, if their parents think it is appropriate. Some local authorities give parents this right already.

Apply for a Postal Vote to make sure you can have your say on 8th June

A number of people have asked me what impact the General Election on 8th June will have on the Boundary Commission proposals to change the Wimbledon constituency.

Government scraps Probate fee increase

I am delighted to hear that the Government has decided to drop the unfair increase in Probate fees.

This would have been a tax on Londoners and a tax on death. I wrote to the Ministry of Justice to object to the proposals, and also challenged them in a House of Commons committee.

Update on the Woodman Pub

I am very pleased to say that I have now heard that the new owners of the Woodman Pub in Wimbledon Park, Goldcrest, plan to retain the pub.
